Our Story

Built for those
who lived it

Contrail Models™ — Based in Florida. Built for the world's aviators.

Aviation demands
excellence.

I've spent 40 years in aviation. I started on the ground — as an aircraft mechanic — learning every rivet, every system, every reason these machines deserve respect. Then the cockpit called. I flew charter ops and casino runs as a Flight Engineer on the B727, hauled cargo across the Pacific and into the great cities of the world with Evergreen International, and for the past 23 years I've been flying for JetBlue — red-eyes and sunrises, traversing this great country coast to coast, watching America wake up from the flight deck.

Along the way, I watched colleagues retire after incredible careers and walk away with a certificate in a frame and a plastic model that didn't come close to capturing what they'd given to the sky.

That gap bothered me. So I did something about it.

Aviation demands excellence. The tributes we give to the people who live it should too.

Thirty hours.
One block of mahogany.

Every Contrail Model begins as a single block of premium mahogany wood and is brought to life by master artisans — each piece taking upwards of 30 hours to complete. Our craftsmen hand-carve, shape, sand, paint, and finish every detail with the kind of care that no factory floor can replicate.

Because these are works of art made by human hands, no two are exactly alike. Small variations aren't flaws — they're proof of authenticity. What you receive isn't a product off a shelf. It's a one-of-a-kind piece of aviation art, built specifically for you.

For everyone who has
given their life to aviation.

We create custom, hand-carved mahogany aircraft models for the full spectrum of aviation life.

40 Years in Aviation

My career began not in a cockpit, but in a hangar. I turned wrenches before I ever turned a heading. That background gave me something most pilots don't have: a deep, hands-on understanding of what these aircraft actually are — not just machines, but masterworks of engineering and human ambition.

After earning my wings, I started as a Flight Engineer on the B727 — charter ops and casino runs, the kind of flying that builds instincts fast. Then came Evergreen International, and everything changed. Long-haul cargo across the globe — JFK to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai. Cargo doesn't wait for sunrise. You learn the world at 37,000 feet in the dark, and it leaves a mark on you.

Then came JetBlue — 23 years in and counting, red-eyes and sunrises, traversing this great country from one coast to the other, watching America wake up from the flight deck. Seven more years to go, and I'm still not tired of the view.

Contrail Models exists because the people who dedicate their lives to aviation deserve to hold something in their hands that reflects what they built. Not a trinket. Not a trophy-shop placeholder. A handcrafted work of art that carries the same weight as the career it commemorates.

Every model we create is built with that intention.
